samsung foundry and claros, a rising star in u.s. power management, have officially formed a strategic manufacturing partnership to jointly advance the mass production of next-generation, energy-efficient power semiconductors for ai data centers. according to claros’s announcement on the 16th local time, the company will leverage samsung’s advanced 14nm finfet process technology to build a scaled-up integrated voltage regulator (ivr) production line at its u.s.-based fab, aiming to overcome key bottlenecks in power delivery efficiency and thermal management faced by today’s hyperscale data centers.
this integrated voltage regulator adopts a near‑processor deployment architecture, enabling voltage regulation nodes to be positioned just millimeters away from cpu or ai accelerator chips, significantly shortening power delivery paths. compared with traditional 800v dc power supply solutions, which suffer substantial energy losses due to long-distance transmission, this new technology can reduce power consumption by up to 30% while improving dynamic load response times and system energy efficiency, providing more stable, cleaner, localized power support for high‑density ai computing clusters.
margaret han, vice president of samsung’s u.s. foundry business, noted that as ai chip power consumption continues to rise, processor‑level precision power delivery has become a critical breakthrough for infrastructure upgrades. this collaboration not only accelerates the commercialization of claros’s ivr products but also opens new avenues for extending finfet technology into high‑reliability, low‑latency power management applications, with potential future expansion into industries such as industrial automation and autonomous driving—sectors that demand extremely precise power control.
during this funding round, claros has completed a $30 million seed financing (approximately rmb 453 million). the first foundry agreement signed with samsung marks a transition of its technology from the validation phase to full-scale production readiness. co‑founder and ceo daniel kurtland emphasized that supply chain certainty is a crucial prerequisite for customers evaluating the feasibility of upgrading their ai infrastructure, and samsung’s capacity guarantees and advanced process capabilities will greatly bolster market confidence in the scalable delivery of its solutions.
