“shadow of the fog” has now launched its limited-time open beta, with xbox game pass subscribers getting first access to this cursed, dark fantasy realm. developed by bellring games, this third-person pvpve survival arpg will officially release on july 29 for xbox series x|s and pc, and will also be added to the xbox game pass lineup.
the current test period runs from june 15 to june 22, during which only select areas and core mechanics will be available. the full content, achievement system, and all storylines will be fully unlocked upon the official release at the end of july.
the game is set in a shattered world being consumed by the “gyldenmist catastrophe.” players take on the role of “fog shadow hunters,” venturing into perilous territories to hunt mutated monsters, collect ancient relics, rare resources known as “gyldenblood,” and uncover lost treasures. unlike mainstream shooter‑style survival games, “shadow of the fog” features a combat system built around magic and melee weapons, emphasizing tactical stealth, environmental interaction, and resource contention, challenging players’ survival instincts in a dynamic pvpve battlefield.
the game was announced as part of the id@xbox showcase back in april this year, and thanks to its distinctive dark fantasy aesthetic and immersive survival experience, it has quickly established itself as a standout new title in the genre.
